BELLINI Vincenzo

Vincenzo Bellini was an Italian Romantic composer, born in Catania on November 3, 1801, and died in Puteaux on September 23, 1835. A composer of chamber and sacred music, Bellini's short career was marked by some of the most successful operas in the operatic repertoire, including I Capuleti e i Montecchi (1830), La sonnambula (1831), Norma (1831) and I puritani (1835).

A contemporary of Donizetti and Rossini, he preceded Verdi with a composition characterized by melancholy and tender sentiments.
