The hieroglyph that I chose for the title of this piece is the sound M represented by an owl and which means "in, into" as “dans le ciel" for which I preferred the English translation "into the sky." In fact we had to add a few words to the the drawing so that we can pronounce the title!
Champollion the man who deciphered the hieroglyphics, noted that their writing was at the same time "figurative, symbolic and phonetic" Chateaubriand meanwhile compared the hieroglyphics to "a seal put on the lips of the desert that preserves their eternal discretion ..."
Commissioned by the Conservatory of Music and the city of Aix-les-Bains (73), this score dedicated to his flute teacher Florence Angelloz gathers various kinds of flutes and their peculiarity: recorders’ family, flutes with a traverso and two pan flutes (more precisely for the creation: siku). It is written for students of the second cycle. It is conceived to be played also outdoors.
