Jacques Brel, through his texts, leaves no doubt about his place in French literature and in the study of his work in schools and universities. The aim of this work is to support the analysis of Brel's texts and to propose a vision, undoubtedly fragmented, but nevertheless constructed.
The present work has tried to go beyond the imposing personality of the man to concentrate only on his texts, not hermetically closed to the context of their creation but as a starting point for any analysis. Literary analysis has the advantage of not venturing into suppositions, but of remaining in the domain of the text and its internal rules, the author's biography becoming a contextual indication, certainly important, but not determining.
The themes approached tend to cover the centers of interest of the author's thought, such as childhood, friendship, love, death, themes that are so common if we except the so particular pen of the artist.
