The aim of this musical tale is to introduce children to Robinson Crusoe, the mythical figure of the adventure story. It is aimed at both conservatory and national education classes.

The eight songs presented develop eight themes that correspond to eight key stages in Daniel Defoe's novel: loneliness, nostalgia, courage, adaptation and survival, the discovery of an exotic elsewhere, but also the encounter with the other, of which Vendredi is the incarnation.

With its subtle blend of percussion, flute and harp timbres, and its modal language, Robinson's music plays the color card. The melodies, by turns expressive, melancholy, funny or rhythmic, turn this musical tale into a veritable novel of varied and contrasting adventures, reflecting the powerful opposition between two conceptions of life, Robinson's and Vendredi's. The score also uses recognizable styles of writing to set the scene and highlight diverse situations: military music for "Civilization", folk music for "Memories of England", rhythmic, syncopated music for "Friday", film or cartoon music...
