This work is sub-titled « study for organ » because of its rich and complex harmonic writing, as well as for its demand to the performer in his choices of registrations. But it could be also called a fantasy or symphonic poem for organ, in which the listener’s imagination is thrown into worlds (« Mondes » means « Worlds ») alternately mysterious, visionary, radiant or fantastic, as in a kaleidoscope of cosmic size.
