Kaotés for soprano recorder and piano

KAOTES is a dialog, which is arisen at the meeting between a keyboard and a soprano recorder. They shyly introduce themselves. The melody that they exchange is very sparing, restrained. Then, as they learn to know each other, the musical phrase becomes richer, grows and begins to show the feelings and the characters of both protagonists. After this moment of discovery and romance, the time of differences and dissimilarity comes... Keyboard and recorder don't understand each other and discord arises; the couple doesn't get along anymore! The recorder doesn't understand: it likes having fun so much, twirling, pirouetting... and the solemn keyboard cannot bear this thoughtlessness and frivolity! It takes the recorder off, makes fun of it, the tone increases, the recorder doesn't allow itself to be intimidated and answers back... We fall out, we apologise, we try a reconciliation, we yell at each other, we are fascinated, we calm down... and finally, each one takes a step towards the other and harmony comes back between keyboard and recorder.

This piece, which was written in 2009, was recorded on the album « Carnet de notes » of music band NONAME.
