SCHIRLÉ Auguste

Auguste SCHIRLÉ, born in Epfig on April 5, 1895, discovered music at a very young age. From 1904 his first compositions flourished. After 15 years of study in Strasbourg, Stuttgart and Paris under the leadership of Erb, Widor and Philipp, he presented the Prix de Rome. Most of his life is devoted to composition and pedagogy. Resolutely contemporary, he finds his inspiration in his dual German and French culture. He died in Montrouge on September 23, 1971.
