Elsa Barraine, one of the first women composers to gain the Grand Prix de Rome in Composition of Music, makes all through the XXth century a fruitful career as a composer and teacher at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique Paris. With a passionate generosity, she acts in favour of justice and culture, particularly during the 2nd World War where she gets deeply involved in the Résistance movement against German occupation.
