In his Mémoires de compositeur, Christophe Marchand takes stock of thirty-six years of artistic creation essentially devoted to the organ, alone or accompanied, adopting a chronological approach that runs from the 1980s to the early 2020s, in a style imbued with freedom and nourished by numerous anecdotes.

Recounting the encounters, the places and the many twists and turns that marked the creation of each major cycle he composed, he looks back at how his irrepressible vocation as a composer unfolded, born in the depths of his native Ardennes, where nothing predisposed him to become a musician.

Evoking the way in which his language and style were built up through his works offers us abundant keys to reading them, makes us want to listen to them, and enables the author to deliver a personal reflection on the world of contemporary organ music.
