Song of the minstrel was composed in 1901 and dedicated to Alexander Wierzbilowicz solo cellist of the Tsar and professor at the conservatory of Saint Petersburg. This work was written for cello and orchestra then a reduction for cello and piano was made by himself. Florent Moriconi offers us this transcript and adaptation for alto saxophone and piano, because the lyricism and the beauty of this Chant du Ménestrel showcase all the qualities of the saxophone.
