Through contact with students of all levels and ages, Leïla Olivesi has developed a real sense of the needs that arise at all stages of learning. It is only from such experience that one can progressively build a practical manual that is effective and adapted to the demands, in order to learn the possibility of feeling and applying the elementary skills of jazz. The choice to work on the parameters (rhythm, harmony, intervals, theory) simultaneously is most judicious. In the same way, it is good not to separate instrumental training from theory. Another very original idea is to transform the students into teachers straight away. While it is true that teachers learn by teaching, it is less often thought that this can also be true of the students themselves. What could be more stimulating, as soon as one has acquired something, to put it to the test immediately by testing one's peers and by testing with one's peers? What better way for the teacher to distil confidence in a group? This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of jazz in a way that is both serious and playful, methodical and adventurous.
